Instructions to Our Governor and Comm under-in-Chef in and over Our Colony of Hongkong aud its Dependencies or o: her Officer for the time being administering the Gover ment of Our said Colony and its Dependencies.

Whereas by certain Letters Patent under the Great Seal of Our United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, bearing even date Becites Letters herewith, We have made provisio for the office of Governor and Com- mander-in-Chief (therein and hereinafter called the Governor) in and over Our Colony of Hongkong, and its Dependencies (therein and here- inafter called the Colony):

And whereas We are minded to substitute fresh Instructions for the aforesaid Instructions and Additional Instructions:

of Oaths.

I.—The Governor may, whenever he thinks fit, require any person in the pblic servi e of the Colony to take the Oath of Allegiance, in the form prescribed by the Act mentioned in Our said recite 1 Letters Pa'eat, together with such other Oath or Oaths as may from time to time be prescribe by any laws in force in the Colony. The Governor is to administer such Oaths, or to cause them to be administered by some public officer of the Colony.
