Dear Mantle,
With reference to the correspondence forwarded to Trading with the Enemy Department under Foreign office reference F 2014/297/10 of the 2nd May, 1944, I enclose a copy of a further letter which we have received from the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation.
This matter does not really seem to concern the Foreign Office and so perhaps you would like to answer the Bank direct, sending us a copy of your reply. If, however, you think the Foreign Office should continue to act as buffer, please advise how we should answer the Bank.
