(A) Salt. Position is growing serious as local supplies are very limited, and have received so far only 90 tons against
Grateful if special stops monthly requirement of 500 tons. could be taken to secure immediate shipment 650 tons from India. Tould suggest possibility of routeing direct to Hung Kong the replacement of these 635 tons ex Port Said now loading for India.
(B) Ground nuts. When may first shipment be expected.
(2) Peanut oil ex India. Our 329 of 6th November not repeated. War Office. Cannot understand why some shipments have not been made. All our information suggests small stocks at least available and India was one of our largest sources of supply.
(3) Foodstuffs in general. Position remains exactly as reported in our DTG 051120. Understand that even Hanyang has not left Australia. Continued delay in arrival of official supplies make a position vis a vis local merchants increasingly ombarrassing. They cannot understant why in other colonies when allocations of restricted foodstuffs are in commercial
