it has now been decided to re-open the Colony to private trading. You might then, I suggest, go on to say that the details of the arrangements will be communicated as soon as possible.

I have not looked up the letter to which you referred in the last paragraph but one of your letter as it is not readily available at the moment. If, however, it affects the action suggested above, perhaps we might have a word over the telephone.

I am sending a copy of this to Brigadier Drew, War Office, Waldock at the Admiralty and to Walsh Atkins at the Burma Office.
