In para 11 of monetary and fiscal directive it is laid down that claims against Government in respect period prior to Japanese occupation will not be paid pending further instructions from London. Representations being received from firms who completed extensive contracts towards end of that period and there are often good reasons for some payment as for example where they require funds to keep skilled labour force together. Schools are also submitting claims for grants which should have been paid to them at end of 1941. Should be grateful for authority to make small payments on account to schools and Government contractors where it can be shown that there is good reason for such action.
