Dear Mr. Everson,
With the liberation of Hong Kong, a great flood of inquiries has come to the China-America Council from American business interests who are desirous of re-establishing their businesses in Hong Kong and other centers in China.
As the formal surrender to British authorities took place at Hong Kong a few days ago and as RCA has established commercial radio service with that center, we would be glad to be inform- ed as to what formalities, if any, are necessary for American business representatives to return to Hong Kong in the near future. Information relative to entry permits for business travelers, reestablishment of barking facilities, rates of exchange, shipping and docking facilities and other general information which would guide businessmen in laying their plans, would be extremely helpful to have.
Can you also inform us regarding visas for American travelers to Chungking via India? We understand, of course, that appropriate British visas are necessary, but we have had com- plaints to the effect that it requires six weeks' time in which to secure a visa and that this can only be done by
