Dear Frere,

With reference to your letter of the 15th September addressed to the Fire Offices' Committee (Foreign) and copied to us, I am returning herewith the Fire offices Committee letter of the 13th September addressed to your department, as the Committee's secretary has informed us by telephone that the Mr.Alan Field Walker who forms the subject of this letter should have been described as a corporal in the Singapore volunteers. Our Prisoner of War Department have no record of this name among the China internees.
