Pac.Flt. advises that British Chiofs of Staff desire that Hong Kong surrender to Rear Admiral Hexscurt conforming to timing required by Supremo Commandor for the Allied Powers. (?CXL 36) 419. Further roquests information by urgent despatch as to oarlost dato Hong Kong surrondor should be directed.

In CFB-5693. 23rd. Not to all. Com. Gon,China informs Supremo Comme nder for the Allied Powors that Gonoralissimo Chiang Kai-Shok has agrood to dologato his authority for accoptance of surronder of Japanes0

Also that forces in Hong Kong to a British Commandor. Genora lissimo Chiang Kia-Shek will designato a Chinese and an American Officer to participate in surrondor acceptanco. Furthor advises that Generalissimo has requos tod British to offect military co-ordination on operational matters connected with Hong Kong surrender with General Wodomeyor and the Chinese Board of Military Operations/roquests Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers to make appropriate arrangements.

Desire that necessary arrangements to accomplish surrondor of Japanese forces in Hong Kong to Roar Admiral Harcourt be made directly between Admiral Harcourt, General Wedomoyer and the Chinese Board of Military Operations, The surrender date can be fixed for any day following that on which the instrument of surrender is accomplished, now schoduled for 31st August.

Further request that this Office be kept informed and advised of date and hour of acceptance of surrender.

This Office will direct the Japanese to surrender the Japanese forces in Hong Kong to Rear Admiral Harcourt.
