17. Depending on minesweeping operations, the 26th Indian
Division will arrive by sea early in October.
Sumatra
18. As soon as a division is available from Malaya, it will
proceed to Palembang.

19. Australian Forces are standing by to take the surrender
dó Timor, whilst Portugueso units are on passage from Lorenzo
Marquos i Political negotiations are in progross between Dominions offico, Australia and Portugalį with regard to surronder arrangements and tho cstablishing of local administration.
HAT MAHERAS
20. It has been reported that all the Japanese (37,000)
surrendered on the 27th August to the Commander of the U.S.
93rd (Negro) Division.

BORNEO
There are already two Australian divisions in Borneo
and negotiations for accepting the surrender and disarming
the Japanese are being taken up initially by the ustralians.
Eventually it is hoped to relieve them by troops from South
East Asia Command when shipping permits.

It is reported that two cruisers and two destroyers
arrived off Sabang on the 28th August.
