SURRENDER OF HONG ONG

THE COMMITTEE referred to a telegram from H.. British Troops China reporting the results of a Co-ordinating Committee meeting, which had been held in Chungling on 2nd September,

60 on matters concerning the surrender of Hong Kong and facilities required by the Americans and Chinese at Hong Kong.

SIR ANDREW CUNNINGHAM said that it would be necessary, in the near future to send Admiral Harcourt further instructions regarding the signing of surrender terms at Hong Long, In particular he would have to be informed of the date on which to sign the surrender. At the same time the views of the Committee on the telegram from H.Q. British Troops in China under consideration, might be sent to him.

THE COMMITTEE

Instructed the Joint Planning Staff to examine

the telegram from H.Q. British Troops China, and to prepare a draft reply.
