THE COMMITTEE took note of telegrams from the Foreign Office to Chungking instructing the Ambassador to request the Generalissimo not to press his claim to delegate his authority as regards the surrender of Hong Kong, and to point out to him that it was fully within his power to waive it by unilatéral action in favour of the Commander of the British force.
