Please see Commander in Chief, British Pacific Fleet telegram 140,902 and Sacsea 152,105 both repeated to the Admiralty about the return of British commercial interests to China.
2. The position on China's coast is in many ways completely different from that in SEA area. Chinese firms will be on the spot and there is considerable risk in leaving British properties unoccupied for longer than is absolutely necessary.
3. We have suggested to the Americans, who have at present monopoly of transport, that this aspect of the situation should not be overlooked when the time comes.
4. Dening please pass to Colombo for Commander in Chief British Pacific Fleet.
