General MacArthur stated in September, 1944, that the
presence in Australis of British Officers, who would
later participate in Civil ffairs activities in Borneo,
would be welcome. In January, 1945, we were informed by
telegram that the complete Borneo Unit wes required to
assemble in Australia without evold ble day, and they have
now taken post in the field.
