Dear Sterndale Bennett,
Thank you for your letter
F. 2868/1147/G of the 23rd May about the alleged activities of H.M's Consul at Macao.
The report con-
3tained in Chunking telegram No.505
of the 22nd May about this matter is disturbing. With the exception of Mr. Jack Braga, the Portuguese, all the names mentioned in this telegram are those of reputable lawyers from Hong Kong and the last three Messrs. Arculli, W.C. Hung end C.Y. Kwan are well-known members of well-known families in the Colony.
:
With regard to Mr. d'Almada the Hong Kong Planning Unit no longer require his services at the present juncture though they will probably wish to use them on their return to the Colony. We have already asked you to send a telegram to Sir Horace Seymour asking him to pass
on
J.C. Sterndale Bennett, Esq., CMG, MC.
