Transmits (1) Copy of letter of 12th April from Mr. Johannessen, the Norwegian Shipping and Trade Mission, Bombay quoting a letter to the Editor in the American Magazine 'Life' at the end of December as being one of the best answers to talk of returning Hongkong to the Chinese after the war (2) copy of Mr. Gent's reply of 13th May.

Mr. Johannessen was a resident in Hongkong and arrived in this country last Autumn after making his way to Free China.
