Appendix A.2.

The foregoing machines are all modern plant purchased and laid down during the past five years. estimate the total value to be 275,100, values of individual items are shown in red.

We

In compiling this list, I have assumed that in an emergency our first concern will be to get ships under repair ready for sea in the shortest possible time and for that reason a large number of machines may require to be in use while the listed machines are being removed.

If time and circumstances permit, additional valuable plant could be shipped.

PERSONNEL.

I recommend that D.B. BONE, Assistant Engineer Manager (keypost Group) and 9.V. POLLOCK, Head Foreman Machine Shops (Combatant Group No.2. (soottish) Company) accompany this plant. When order for removal is given an endeavour will be made to get Chinese Turners to go with their machines. The wages to be offered being three times their Hong Kong rates.

STORES.

Stocks of copper ingots, copper tubes, yellow metal bars, white metal, zinc, iron and lead piping, wire ropes, electrodes etc. etc. and portable pneumatic tools and hose will be shipped at the same time as machines. This should be approximately 1000 tons in weight with a very approximate value of £98,000.
