Your secret letter F.10334/327/G of the 8th October to Hollis about the reinforcement of Hong Kong.
I attach a copy of a telegram which has just gone off to the Joint Staff Mission on this subject. Thank you for a very useful suggestion which had escaped my notice.
From the Chiefs of Staff point of view there will be no objection to your letting our Embassy in Washington, Sir Robert Craigie and Sir Archibald Clarke Kerr know of the proposal to reinforce Hong Kong when you think fit. information should, however, be communicated to them for their personal and most secret information only.
