In view of changed situation in Far East and as
further proof of our confidence in our position, recommend
that wives and children of Army and R.A.F.personnel be permitted to enter and reside in Malaya under following conditions
(A) they do no at their own expense and risk. (B) They
wiol not be entitled to any assistance to enable them to leave at a later date (C) the commanding officer concerned
ie satisfied that there is suitable accommodation available
for them to live in. Governor's cables 462 3 and 466
