CHAPTER 90.
ALIENS.
To regulate the immigration of Aliens into the Colony and to control their residence therein.
[1st January, 1933.]

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Aliens Short title. Ordinance.
2.—(1) In this Ordinance, unless there is something Interpreta- repugnant in the subject or context,
'Alien' means any person not being either a British subject or a British protected person. [Substituted by Ordinance 5 of 1934; S. 2.
"Local Authority" means the Colonial Secretary in Singapore, the Resident Councillors in Penang and Malacca, and the Resident in Labuan;
"Master" includes every person, except a pilot,
having command or charge of any ship; "Ship" includes any ship or boat or any other
description of vessel used in navigation; "Transit passenger alien' means any alien who on his arrival at a port in the Colony shall declare to the Immigration Officer that it is his intention to continue his voyage, within fourteen days of such arrival, to another port or place, not being a port or place in the Colony or in a Malay State under His Majesty's protection.
(2) For the purposes of this Ordinance the onus of proving that a person is not an alien shall be on the person alleging the same.
