POREIGN OPPITE,
6.7.1.
14th June, 1941.
Dear Geat,
Dr. Chen, the Chinese chargé d'affaires, called on 10th June and referred to the new immigration regulations at Hong Kong.
He stated that the Chinese dovernment were grateful that the authorities there had waived the necessity for a visa on Chinese passports. Chinese
residents in Hong Kong had, however, strongly represented to the Chinese Government that it would be
desirable that reference in the regulations to the necessity for such a visa, so far as Chinese nationale were concerned, should be deleted. The Chinese Government concurred in this view and enquired whether we should be prepared to do this.
