Your telegram No. 556. Company's local legal advisers and my advisers consider local legislation would not have effect of enabling a Company registered in Hong Kong to move its registered office to a Dominion or other Colony, becoming a legal entity registered under the Company Laws of that Domion or Colony without Dominion legislation, or an Order-in-Council as the case may be. Would it be possible to secure Australia or Canada's consent to such Dominion legislation in events contemplated? Union Insurance Society desires to transfer to and adopt there under Australian and (corrupt group) legislation for approved period such transfer to be at Society's option any time during the war. Can legislation be arranged to meet this desire? Other companies may possibly desire to transfer elsewhere.
