When Dr. Gordon Thompson came to see me
on October 25th he said that Mrs. Selwyn-Clarke had sometimes been a thorn in the side of his organisation and it quite possible that she was a thorn in our side as well.
I spoke to him again to-day and explained that we felt difficulty in pressing the Colonial Office about this case. He quite understood but said that it would be extremely difficult to find any substitute. He realised that we might not be able to press the request but asked that we should go so far as requesting the Hong Kong Government to consider the possibility of review- ing the case.
I think we might go so far as this. Approach C.O. accordingly.
