Dr. Gordon Thompson called on me yesterday to say that his organisation understood that Mrs. Selwyn- Clarke, who was their representative in Hongkong (she is also the wife of the medical officer of health) was being obliged to leave Hongkong as part of the evacuation scheme. Mrs. Selwyn-Clarke was an extremely active representative, and her departure would be a real loss. Incidentally I gathered that a

quantity of supplies was on its way to Hongkong addressed to her.

Dr. Gordon Thompson therefore asked that if it were possible a telegram might be sent to Hongkong asking the Hongkong Government to consider the possibility of exempting Mrs. Selwyn-Clarke from the evacuation order.
