Evacuation of military families from Hong Kong to Australia
continuation of my telegram No.7545 July 22nd. Would appear that
War Office has not communicated with you regarding accommodation as
they state in telegram of yesterday's date that Governor Hong Kong is making arrangements though they were informed in my telegram 7512 July 17th not sent to Melbourne that he was not making arrangements
for army families. Military families now sail Awatea leaving
Manilla August 4th approximately and possibly in another ship later,
Can you arrange accommodation by unit groups as suggested in my previous cables to be of three classes officers, warrant officers and
other ranks. British Army funds will be liable for cost accommodation
and full board. This includes officers wives cancelling statement
regarding them in my telegram 7545. Is there any other information
you would like.
