Position of Federal Reserve Bank.
At ordinary general meeting of shareholders on 30th March the Governor stated that note issue of Bank had reached $458,000,000 at end of 1939. He gave details of total loans issued, deposits received and added that profit for year was estimated at $1,090,000. He was further reported to have said that in order to prevent upward tendency of commodity prices Bank would make every effort to check inflation.
