Chinese warships in Hong Kong Harbour.

Refers to Colonial Office letter of 27th December 1939 (F 13033/3361/10). Transmits 1) copy Chungking despatch No.22 of 27th April to Hong Kong (copy Shanghai No.113, Tokyo No.7, Canton No.2 and Commodore, Hong Kong) reporting that he communicated decision to Chinese Government on 20th April. Minister of Foreign Affairs stated Chinese Government were much upset to learn of decision and made strong personal appeal that vessels should be immobilised. 2) Copy Hong Kong despatch to Chungking of 21st May. (Copies Tokyo No.41. Shanghai No.62, Canton No.29, Commodore, Hong Kong outlining views of Government on subject. (Sent Admiralty, War Office).
