Refers to Peking telegram No.150 of 1st August (F 8236/37216) Engine-room staff have been warned by Chinese and a Japanese policeman to leave their employment by 10th August, they fear they may be compelled to do so. Explains circumstances in which recommends that Commander-in-Chief be asked to provide (? one) engine room artificer, one electrician and one stoker as soon as possible who can be accommodated and rationed in British Embassy Guard. Repeated to Tientsin No.495 and for Brigadier Tokyo No.52 Saving (figures by air mail).
