Your telegram No.777 to Tokyo [of the 10th November:
announcement of withdrawal of garrisons from North China].
Following notice will be issued to the press by the
War Office in time for Monday morning's newspapers in
England:-
"In view of the fact that the trained personnel is
required elsewhere, the British battalion now stationed
in North China is being replaced by a small token force.
This force will consist of one company with the necessary
administrative details".
