In reply to Mr. Gallacher, Mr. Butler stated that His Majesty's Ambassador at Tokyo made his trip to Shanghai with primary object of taking a short period of local leave, and that he took the opportunity to compare notes on questions of common interest. Ambassador to China was paying one of his regular routine visits to headquarters of the Government to which he is accredited, and no special significance need be attached to this. Mr. Gallacher and Mr.Thorne asked supplementary questions.
