Evacuation of garrison's families from Tientsin.

Copy telegram 544/ cipher 29 August from General Officer Commanding Hong Kong.

Refers to War Office telegram of 24th August (F 9441/1/10).

The "Ettrick" has been detailed to Hong Kong by Commander-in-Chief and is expected to arrive on 30th August. The families from Tientsin are being evacuated in the Hector and will not reach Hong Kong for some days. Enquires whether the "Ettrick" should be held at Hong Kong until further orders. If accommodation is available for moving, married families considers those of Royal Scots and Middlesex Regiment should go. If she can be held until the arrival of the "Hector' then the families of the Royal Scots and the Durham Light Infantry should go.
