Dear Rokeling
Thank you very much for your letter No.
I.P.R.191/16 of the 7th July and your letter of the 5th
July about the evacuation of Chinese students in the
event of war.
2. As you are aware we do not consider ourselves
morelly bound to secure the some treatment as would be
accorded to British students for other Chinese students
than the Federation of British Industries engineering
apprentices and the Boxer Indemnity scholars. We are
accordingly in touch with Brender of the Universities
Bureau about the Boxer Indemnity scholars, en have
written to the Federation of British Industries about
the apprentices, who have come to this country under
their auspices. If they ere unable to make provision
for these students we will consult the National Union
of Students as you suggest.
