Desp.1355 20/12/39. Recă.0930 28/12/39:

repeated G.S.0.1.(Intelligence) Far East Singapore.

6276 cipher 28/12.

On morning of December 25th party of 50 Japanese soldiers with 4 machine guns under an officer found by our patrol on frontier road inside British territory. They were re-directed

back across the frontier the way they had come.

Boxer interviewed next day Japanese commander who apologized and explained that their guide had fallen out and party had lost their way. I have now closed a path across a small portion of our territory which Japanese had previously

been allowed to use for their own convenience.

Violation seems to have been accidental though

careless. I have warned Japanese that armed parties of

Chinese or Japanese will of necessity be interned if they are

found on Britich territory.
