My dear Mr. Dodds,

As there is not much time, I am taking

the liberty of forwarding to you the enclosed aide- mémoire for any steps which your Embassy may care to take with regard to it. The aide-mémoire concerns

a petition which is to be heard in the Supreme Court of Hong Kong on the 17th instant involving a Chinese

steamship Company with headquarters in North China,

namely, the Ching Kee Steam Navigation Company,

Limited, and I may add that the Japanese Government

are greatly interested in the outcome of the hearing.

Yours sincerely,

(SGD) S. KURIHARA.

Director,

East Asiatic Bureau.

J. L. Dodds, Esquire,

P.S.

Counsellor,

British Embassy.

I also enclose a clipping from a Hong Kong newspaper.
