proposal for defensive pact].
Ministry of Foreign Affairs inform me that the Chinese Ambassador
made a similar approach to M. Léger on September 16th, and that the oral reply which was returned to him was inspired by the same
principles as Sir A. Cadogan's reply to the Chinese Ambassador in
London.
