About a week after I got your wire replying to

mine about Colley he was ordered home forthwith by War Office in order to train Militia. So his trip is

quite off. If we had had a bit more notice I might

have been able to arrange for him to go via Siberia,

but he left by P.&.0. within about 3 days of War Office

instructions being received.

2.

We have just had a wire from India to say Lance

Corporal Johnson will arrive here on 16th August, 1939,

which will I hope end our 9 month's battle !
