Anti-Japanese activities in Hong Kong,
Repeats Canton telegram No. 119. Addressed Hong Kong No. 192. Refers to Canton telegram No. 118 to Shanghai (
). Mr. Okazaki explained that recent assassination of Bhum Sung in Hong Kong had created very bad impression on Japanese and that Mr. Tani would interview Governor in connexion with provision of more adequate protection pro rata Japanese and Chinese in Hong Kong. If anti-Japanese terrorists are eradicated Japanese authorities will consider assurance of supply of foodstuffs to the Colony but any settlement must depend on evacuation of British troops from occupied areas.
Repeated Commander in Chief No. 118, Tokyo No. 43.
