OUT FILE
FOREIGN OFFICE, S.W.1.
192
18th December, 1939.
Sir,
20
With reference to your despatch No. 295 (2/64B/1939)
of the 3rd April last, I enclose a copy of a letter from
His Majesty's Stationery Office regarding a further
infringement of copyright by the reproduction of Admiralty
Tide Tables by the new China Printing Company of Wenchow.
While it would appear difficult to take any
action against the printers of this publication, it may be
possible to induce their agents to refuse to accept further
copies by the same method as was used in the case of the
"International Signal Code", since the China Map Distributing
Company's offices appear to be situated in the International
Settlement.
3. A copy of this despatch has been sent to His
Majesty's Consul-General.
I am, with great truth and respect,
Sir,
Your Excellency's obedient Servant,
(For the Secretary of State)
(Sd.) R. G. HOWE.
His Excellency
Sir Archibald Clark Kerr, K.C.M.G.,
etc., etc.,
Shanghai..
etc.,
