In spite of unsettled conditions owing to
repeated Japanese air raids, etc., steamers continue to
secure moderate cargoes from Pakhoi. Nothing doing at
Hoihow which remains a "closed" port, though steamers are
calling to show the "flag".
No change in Canton River;
foreign tonnage is
precluded from general trading though the Japanese are
reported to be bringing in considerable quantities of
rice, etc., by vessels allegedly transports and other
craft.
