Japanese troops have now been

reported at various points along the frontier. They reached

eastern end this arternoon Thursday. Little firing no bombing

and no incidents. Japanese battalion Adjutant contacted

by Military

?referred to strict orders given to respect

frontier. Length of stay unknown. Object probably partly

to close communications of China. British gunboats have been

stationed in Deep Bay and Mirs Bay to preserve integrity of

territorial waters.
