I am circulating to you, and the other recipients of this letter, copies of two telegrams Nos. 262 and 270 which we have received recently from Hong long, and which were the cause of the request which we made that the meeting which you had called for Wednesday, 26th March, be postponed. we are considering these telegrams in this office, and are taking Ministerial instructions on them, and will let you know as soon as we are in a position to attend a meeting on this question.
You will note that in telegram No. 262 there are two references to telegrams which have not been circulated to you. These formed part of personal communications with the Governor which it was not necessary to airoulate.
I have sent copies of this letter to Charlton and McGill at the War Office and Lawrence-Wilson at the Ministry of Défenos.
