ANGLO-AMERICAN WORKING GROUP ON HONG KONG

Paragraph 3, Line 6

Delete "is militarily unsound" and substitute:-

"was militarily impracticable with the forces available".

Paragraph 5, Line 1

Delete "clearly remain" and substitute:-

"remain primarily".

Paragraph 5, Line 9

Delete from "but any measures" to end of paragraph and substitute:-

"But any action, whether nuclear or conventional, that can be taken by the United States in the event of hostilities, to assist the garrison in defence, should also be discussed".

Paragraph 8

Delete first sentence and substitute:-

"Any large scale evacuation of civilians would be impracticable".
