Dear dhr. Hughes,

MEETING WITH THE GOVERNOR OF

HONG KONG

Following the meeting between the Chiefs of Staff and the Governor of Hong Kong you will recall that I proposed that the Governor should be kept informed of present and future SEATO plans and given guidance on the lines of paragraphs 2 - 4 of my minute dated 18th July, 1957.

2. The Chiefs of Staff have now agreed to this suggestion and I would be grateful if you could arrange for the Governor to be informed accordingly. You should make one minor amendment to paragraph 4 of the minute by adding at the end " .....by SEATO forces".

0.E.B. Hughes, Esq.,

Colonial Office.

Yours sincerely,

cathringle
