In view of the persistent misrepresentation in
Chinese left-wing propaganda, both in the Colony and on the mainland,
of the action taken by this Government following the serious squatter
area fire in Tung Tau Village on 21st November, 1951, (see my
secret savingram No. 215 of 7th February, 1952), I enclose copy of
a report by the Acting Social Welfare Officer on the relief measures
taken in this connection. Every effort is, of course, being made
to give adequate local publicity to these facts.
