Translation.

1. (Special) With a view to letting the people throughout the country understand the truth of the mysterious fire in Tungtou Village of Kowloon und the unreasonable persecution of the distressed residents in that village by the Hongkong British Government, the lwangtung and Canton branches of the Chinese People's Relief administration have decided to send Li Wen-hsing, Chang Sheng and âu Ch'in, representatives of the distressed Chinese, who have recently been deported from Hongkong, to Peking to make a report to the Chinese People's Relief aduluistra- tion. It is reported that Li Wen-haing and the others will leave for Peking shortly.

2. (Special) When the news that the people of Kwangtung and Canton have decided to organise and send a delegation to Kowloon to comfort the fire-stricken residents of Tungtou Village reached Hongkong, the people of all circles thore were greatly excited. The distressed Chinese in Tungtou Village, the various workers' organisations and the industrial and commercial oiroles of Hongkong and Kowloon have one after another begun to make preparations in order to welcome this comforting delegation.

On February 8, the representatives of Tungtou Village issued a statement pointing out: e, the entire body of distressed residents, are excited and overjoyed at our motherland's ardent support and concern for us. We will give our unanimous and resolute support for the just statement issued by our Foreign Ministry, which aims at protecting the legitimate rights and freedom of person of the Chinese residents in Hongkong, and is a true representation of our wrath against the Hongkong British Covernment

We arewaiting urgently for the early arrival of our motherland's dologation. We have to disclose our sufferings and denounce the atrocities or llongkong British Govt. before the people of China."

The Chinese workers' unions of the Hongkong Electric Co. and the Taikoo and Naval dookyards held meetings on February 8 and 9. They all took the view that the liberated people or China oan no longer be insulted and persecuted. The workers of the Taikoo Dookyard have also launched a "One Dollar Donation Movement" to collect funds for the relief of their distressed fall-w-countrymen in Tungtou Village and issued an open letter calling on all workers to carry on their struggle against the "New Regulations".

The industrial and commercial circles of Hongkong and Kowloon have also decided to support the Chinese Foreign Ministry's statement with practical efforts and begun to make preparations to welcome the arrival of the delegation of the people of Kwangtung and Canton.
