40. Page 81, final sub-paragraph.-The instructions as to signalling permission to vessels to enter the port are not understood. They read as if the normal condition were for firing-batterics to be connected to mines, whereas this would only he the case if a vessel approaching the minefield were believed to be hostile.

41. Page 83, paragraph 30 (3).-It should be stated what provision will be made for the inmates of the Barkly Asylum at Beau-Bassin, if this is used for wounded men. Unless a suitable place can be made available for them other arrangements must be made for the wounded from Port Louis.

42. Page 85, paragraph 36.-The Colonial Defence Committee are informed that the question of securing the maintenance in war of the cable to Mauritius, which is laid viâ Zanzibar and Seychelles, has been brought to the notice of the inter-Departmental Committee which has been appointed to consider the steps which should be taken to insure the maintenance of cable communication between the various portions of the British Empire.
