consider that the most urgent requirement of the Colony as regards matériel is the completion of the rearmament of its forces with rifles (preferably Magazine), using the service 303-in. ammunition, as already recommended by the Committee.

5. It is noted with satisfaction that the Local Defence Committee has held periodical sittings, and it is hoped that these will result in an early revision of the South Australian Defence Scheme on the lines of the Colonial Defence Committee's Remarks No. 151 R., dated the 30th December, 1896.
