Remarks by the Colonial Defence Committee.
THIS revised Report was received without covering letter with the Annual Return of Resources of the Colony for the year 1894.
It will be convenient if future revisions are sent through the Governor with a covering letter of the Inspector-General of the Gold Coast Constabulary, in which he might point briefly to the main alterations from previous Reports, and also indicate the actual condition of the artillery matériel and of the equipment in his charge.
The present Report shows no important changes to have been made since the last one was considered by the Committee.
They would suggest, however, that it would be convenient if the next revision were arranged so as to separate the description of the available resources from the proposals with regard to their utilization in war, and also if the Report were accompanied by a general map of the Gold Coast showing the distribution of the Constabulary and Volunteers, and by one on a larger scale enfaced with the defence arrangements which it is proposed to adopt at Akra in time of war.
(Signed)
M. NATHAN, Secretary,
Colonial Defence Committee.
