Interrogation of prisoners of war has confirmed that this aircraft (under its Service name, D.B. 3) forms the equipment of certain identified units. Its performance is as follows:-

Maximum speed Cruising speed Range

Bomb load

245 m.p.h. 200 m.p.h. 1,600 miles. 3,300 lbs.

46. Russian balloons are reported to have been used north of Lake Ladoga, and about six have been seen on the Isthmus. They are used to spot enemy artillery positions and movement, and to co-operate with their own aircraft. The Finnish General Staff have not reported any improvement in Russian artillery fire as a result of the use of these balloons.

47. A total of 507 Russian aircraft had been lost in Finland by the 27th February. Of these, 130 were accounted for by anti-aircraft fire. Sixty Russian aircraft have also been lost in Estonia as a result of forced landings and crashes.
