They would, however, remark that an aerodrome recaptured by a mobile column within any reasonable time still remains an aerodrome, despite damage which may have been inflicted upon the hangars, plant and aircraft, but would stress the fact that there will be little of value to recapture in an oil installation after a sabotage raiding party has been in occupation for an hour or so.

The Oil Control Board therefore suggest that most serious consideration should be given to the immediate increase of the static garrisons of the exposed and vital oil installations as a normal war protection measure,

It is, of course, irrespective of any question of invasion. outside their province to make specific proposals in such matters, but it would not appear to the Board to be impracticable for anti invasion units to be stationed at the oil installations where they could combine the function of static guard with routine training until required for their allotted anti-invasion role.
