This is firstly of adding to our air strength in Far East. to re-equip those units now using obsolete types, then later to expand, in both cases utilising latest American and Australian built types. We hope that Australian built
Anything Beauforts will commence deliveries carly 1942. American Chief of Naval Operations and Chief of Staff can do to accelerate the flow of the American types mentioned in paragraph 7(c) above, would greatly improve situation.
9.
In emergency quick reinforcement is possible
from Middle East. American Chief of Naval Operations and Chief of Staff have themselves recognised importance of Middle East and will appreciate impossibility of robbing this theatre now in view of current and projected operation there.
Nevertheless the inter-command reinforcement route does allow some flexibility to meet changing conditions.
